Internship Placement: Alaska Native Heritage Center (Anchorage, Alaska)

School: University of Montana (Missoula, Montana)

Háu, Cody emáčiyapelo. Malákȟota yeló. Wayáwa hemáčha, University of Montana el wabláwa. (Hello, my name is Cody . I am Lakota. I am a student, I go to school at the University of Montana.) I am an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in South central South Dakota. In Fall 2017 I transferred to UM from Sinte Gleska University. In May 2020, I will graduate with my Associate of Arts degree while still pursuing a Sociology degree and a minor in Native American Studies.

I enjoy playing/watching sports, fishing, weight lifting, and spending time with family and friends. My future goals are to eventually help the Native community and youth achieve their goals. I want to help Native youth reach their full potential whether it’s through higher education, trades, or entrepreneurship while still being able to hold onto their cultural identity.

I am blessed to have this opportunity as an American Indian Business Leader intern and look forward to the new experience and working towards my goals while being able to help others reach theirs. Anpétu wasté yuhá po (Have a good day).
